2006 World Cup Wheelchair Dance
For the 18th time a big wheelchair event was organized in Boxmeer, a small Dutch town near Nijmegen. Representatives of 19 countries, including Australia, Taiwan and Mexico, were present.

World 10-Dance Amateur Championship
During the annual Austrian Open held each November in the beautiful and historical city of Vienna, 38 ambitious couples from all over the world had the chance to compete for the crown as World Champion over ten dances.
World Professional 10-Dance Championship
This years World Professional 10 Dance Championship was organised in Italy on the 22nd and 23rd of October in a town named Ostia near to the City of Rome.
World Standard Professional Championships 2005
The competition was opened by an innovative number choreographed by Goran Nordin and representing the rising generation of Latin-American dancers. The competition commenced with forty-one couples from thirty-one countries exhibiting extraordinary dancing right from the first round.
World Amateur Latin Championships 2005
With a packed stadium full of cheering fans, Czechs proved that they love dancing. Eight thousand enthusiastic spectators were on hand to witness the finals of the World Amateur Latin Championships on October 8, in Ostrava, a small mining city in the Czech Republic.
This year's International Championships at the Royal Albert Hall, London England was the event of the year! "Has-beens" came back, kings were dethroned, new ones were crowned, same sex couples on the floor, a changing of the guard, red flags all over the place, and best of all, dancers with "Cutting Edge" performances making a horrible task of the judges' decisions. Among the living cities of the world, Belgrade holds the record for the number of times it has been ravaged. But unlike the previous times, this time it was a friendly bombardment of dancers from many different parts of the world that targeted Belgrade at the Beodance Open, October 1st through the 2nd 2005.
USDSC Open Eclipsed by Embassy Ball
Last year it was Hurricane Frances that nearly put a damper on the USDSC, this year it was a political storm the size of Frances and an almost total eclipse of the international (Open U.S.) portion by the Embassy Ball.
Embassy Ball has always been a competition that welcomed and showcased dancers from all over the world, but this year it has become the biggest window for US dancers to the world in 2005.
The 3rd. "Saxonian Dance Days" International Dance Festival was held on 13th and 14th August in the Paunsdolf Centre, Leipzig, Germany. Over 600 couples from 27 countries participated in the various competitions.
Nice serves as the airport for the French Riviera-Côte d'Azur as it is often referred to - which extends from the border of Monaco to St. Tropez along the Mediterranean coast. Most of the competitors and adjudicators for the World Latin arrived Friday morning, June 10, and were transported by motor coach to the charming hotel in Le Cannet, a suburb of Cannes, where we were to stay for the two days while attending the Championship.
Barcelona Spain, home of Picasso and Dali and the revolutionary architecture of Gaudi, has now become home to one of Spain's must prestigious DanaceSport competitions - the Fiesta Mediterranea held July 9th through the 10th at the five-star Hotel Rey Juan Carlos I.
They say that "A change is as good as the rest." And I am sure that after twenty two years of single-handedly promoting and nurturing this festival (a pioneer of the competition/holiday concept) Adalberto and Lalla deserve a little respite and have thus joined forces to form a new organisational team with Davide and Olga Cacciari, and Donato and Giusy Scandiffio. Their combined skills along side the efforts of Competition Secretary, Salvatore Storti and the efficient back up team ensured that the schedule, that for this year only had to be condensed into five hectic days ran like Swiss rather than Italian clockwork.
Turning eighty years old is usually cause for celebration and with the venerable Open British Dance Championships hitting the big eight zero this year, celebration was in the air, albeit in the somewhat restrained mode typical to Britain in general and Blackpool in particular.
Slovenian Open - Young at Heart
As this was my first visit to Slovenia and the Slovenian Open, I would like to begin this report with some of my first impressions and my very first impression was one of youth. The majority of the dancers of course were young, this is normal, but in Slovenia, so were the staff on the door, the DJ, the two MC's and even most of the judges were in the thirty to fifty age range.
King Midas Meets The Terminator: The Arnold Classic
Once upon a time there was a legendary king named Midas. He was granted a wish that everything he touched would turn to gold. If legend could be wrapped up with other legends then we could possibly link another legendary character from current film history, Conan the Barbarian and the infamous Terminator, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger, to King Midas. Imagine if the two could become allies to promote DanceSport in North America? Well, it has happened!
Celtic Classic, The Unexpected Irish Gem!
